Dr. Daniel Ruzek acted as a deputy of the Membership Review Committee (2022-2024). He is a Professor and Head of the Department of Virology, Veterinary Research Institute in Brno, and Head of the Laboratory of Arbovirology, Institute of Parasitology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. He received his PhD in the field of Molecular and Cellular Biology and Genetics from the Czech Academy of Sciences and University of South Bohemia in 2008. He had postdoctoral training at the Department of Virology and Immunology, Texas Biomedical Research Institute, San Antonio, USA. His primary field is virology with research emphasis on vector-borne viruses, especially tick-borne encephalitis virus. He serves as an Associate Editor in Ticks and Tick-borne Diseases journal (Elsevier), as Editor in Scientific Reports (Springer-Nature), and is a member of Editorial Boards in numerous other journals. He published more than 120 papers in highly respected journals, including Nature Communications, Lancet, Emerging Infectious Diseases, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Nature, Journal of Experimental Biomedicine and so forth, which were cited more than 2500 times. He is a recipient of several awards including Herbert Sinnecker-Christian Kunz Award for junior research in the field of tick-borne disease.
